Horia has returned to Katmandu to make the final preparations for the expedition. It was here that he came together with Marius Gane and Peter Hamor, the two mountaineers joining him on the Dhaulagiri expedition. The three now have all the equipment they need. Luggage is ready to be carried by mule to Dhaulagiri basecamp.
We enjoy the last settlements we cross and the facilities we have access to, such as a coffee or a beer. We have done the last of the shopping, luggage is ready, we’ve relaxed in one last Nepalese-style jacuzzi. Today we’re flying to Pokara, and tomorrow we’ll be travelling five hours by car to the last village with a road, Darbang. After that, we’ll spend five days trekking to basecamp – Horia Colibășanu said.
Following that, there will be an acclimatizing period, so that their organisms get used to the altitude. For the beginning of May, Horia and his rope mates have planned to start ascending and equipping the route with intermediary camps. Towards the end of May, when the weather turns favourable, they will set out to conquer the summit.
