Horia Colibășanu’s expedition is progressing in the best conditions so far. Upon his arrival in Kathmandu, he prepared his whole equipment for the expedition, which was then handed over to his collaborators to be transported to Base Camp. After landing on the most dangerous airport in the world, in the town of Lukla at 2,800 m altitude, he began the trekking stage through the Khumbu Valley.
Having arrived in Nepal, Horia also met with the national authorities in order to finalize the paperwork allowing him to accomplish this year’s expedition: the opening of a new route to the summit of Everest (8,848m).
Peter Hámor, Horia’s expedition partner, has also arrived in Nepal, and with the team complete they have started planning for the following weeks.
“We are fine, have finalized the administrative preparations, still have a few things to pick up from Namche Bazar (3,500m) in order to complete our equipment. The atmosphere is pleasant, which is good, especially that this year we are accompanied by friends up to Base Camp”, said Horia about the time spent so far in Nepal.
As for the next stage of the expedition, Horia will be leaving the Sherpa capital and heading for Periche (4,250m), where he’ll be arriving on April 7th.
On Easter day, Horia will be on his way to the Everest-Lhotse Base Camp, where he’ll be acclimatizing for about 5 days.
